Prairie Meadows has a one mile oval dirt track which has a 1,033 foot stretch to the finish line after the final turn. The live racing Season at Prairie Meadows runs from April 8th through to September 20th. However, up until July there is solely thoroughbred racing whilst from July to September there are a variety of different forms of live racing shown at Prairie Meadows Racecourse.

The course opens every day of the week, live racing however is just shown on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday with post times of 3.30pm on Monday and Tuesday and of 6.30pm on Friday and Saturday.

Prairie Meadows is also home to a great Casino, where you can have a go at the slots or ante up in their smoke free poker room. Simulcast racing is shown throughout the year at the course.

From the West
Take I-80 east to exit 142A. Turn right onto Highway 6. Take your first left (east) onto Adventureland Drive. We’ll be on your right.

From the East
Take I-80 west to exit 142. Turn left onto Highway 6. Take your first left (east) onto Adventureland Drive. We’ll be on your right.

From the North
If you’re coming in on I-35 from the north, merge onto I-80 east via exit 87A towards Davenport. Travel a little over four miles to exit 142A. Turn right onto Highway 6. Take your first left (east) onto Adventureland Drive. We’ll be on your right.

From the North
If you’re coming in from south of Des Moines on I-35, merge onto Highway 5 South on the southern edge of Des Moines. Highway 5 South becomes Highway 65 North. Take exit 83 toward Highway 6/Hubbell Avenue. Turn right onto Highway 6/Hubbell Avenue. Turn right onto Adventureland Drive. We’ll be on your right.
