Hawthorne Racecourse has a one mile oval dirt track as well as a seven furlong grass track. The dirt track has a 1,320 foot final stretch to the finish line after the final corner.
Live racing is shown at the track from March 7th to April 28th and then from September 26th through to January 13th. The Post time at the track is usually at 7.30pm Monday to Saturday but just 6.30pm on a Sunday. Simulcast racing is also shown at the ground throughout the year.
The track also caters for thoroughbred racing and has been running thoroughbred horses since 1890; the first harness race at the course took place in 1970.
